CROSSROADS EARLY LEARNING CENTER NEWSLETTER January, 2015
Brrr……The weather has truly turned cold fairly rapidly. The leaves are all gone; animals
are scurrying around looking for food. Winter appears to be a bleak, cold and distant
environment.
However, instead of this superficial perception of the winter season, we really need to
look more closely. Just because it is cold outside does not necessarily mean that people
are “cold”. We, as social beings, create a warmth and exuberance for each other, and
those we come in contact with. This is a great season to bring people closer together.
This warmth and caring that we portray can take away the perceived dowdiness of winter.
It is a time to get out there and play in the snow, building snowmen, making snow angels
and sleigh riding with your children. These times will provide memories that your
children will forever have and warm them well into their adulthood.
It provides us with opportunities of lighting a fire in our fireplace and snuggling up with a
good book, with our children or spouses.
It is also a season that can be quite beautiful. There are few things more exquisite than
trees and lawns covered in fresh snow. This snow provides many nutrients for our lawns
and allows that fertilizer that we put down in the fall, to really settle down into the ground.
All of us here at Crossroads are striving to create a warm feeling for each other and about
the winter that God has provided for us. There is much love, fun and learning that is
happening to help the children appreciate the winter.
Please join me in extending that warm greeting, a friendly smile and warm feeling to
others. Together we can keep the cold and bleakness of winter as just a perception and
start appreciating the season for what it can be!
